Upgrading your Wordpress Blog
When a Wordpress update is available, you will notice an update link appears at the top of the screen when logging in as the Administrator. To install this upgrade, simply click on the link.
This will bring you to a page where you enter your Hostname (usually this is your domain name -- no www), Username (FTP not Wordpress username), Password (FTP, not Wordpress password), and Connection Type (you should generally select FTP):
Next, click on
Proceed to complete the upgrade. If you have any problems in the process, email us at
support@lexiconn.com and request assistance installing the plugin.
Installing Wordpress Plugins
Once you have found the Plugin that you would like to install, click on the Install link in the plugin listing on the far right of the screen:
A window will pop up displaying information about this plugin (It may contain multple tabs). When you are ready to install the plugin, click the Install Now button on the top right:
The next screen will prompt you for information about your Wordpress install, including Hostname (usually this is your domain name -- no www), Username (FTP not Wordpress username), Password (FTP, not Wordpress password), and Connection Type (you should generally select FTP):
The next screen provides you with installation information, and should end with Successfully installed the plugin [name_of_your_plugin]. You will be prompted to Activate the plugin, or Return to the Plugin Installer, should you want to install additional plugings:
If you are presented with errors and you unsure how to resolve them, take a screen-shot of the errors you see and email it to us at
support@lexiconn.com and request assistance installing the plugin.
If the plugin has been successfully installed and you selected to activate the plugin, you should be back at your Plugins page, and the new plugin you installed should be displayed in your list of Plugins:
