Here are the steps to changing file permissions via FTP. This procedure is the same in WS_FTP, CuteFTP and SmartFTP.

1. Highlight the file.

2. Right click it and select either "Properties", "chmod (UNIX)", or "Unix Permissions" (depending on the FTP program you are using). A window will pop up with all possible options for manipulating the permissions of the selected file.

3. Set any permissions you may need and click "OK".
