LexiConn – April 2010 Newsletter
===========================================In this Month’s Newsletter:
* SSL Certificates
* Featured Client: bakersgas.com
* From the Blog…SSL Certificates
SSL (secure sockets layer) is a protocol designed for transmitting sensitive/private information via the web. The secure certificate works by activating the browser’s “lock” icon and enabling up to 256-bit encryption. All secure pages begin with https://, and this protocol assures online visitors that confidential information and transactions cannot be viewed,
intercepted or altered.LexiConn offers a variety of SSL certificates through both GeoTrust and VeriSign, including the latest Extended Validation SSL certificates.
The GeoTrust certificates that we offer are compatible with 99%+ of all browsers, and come in three different variations:
QuickSSL Premium – standard 256-bit secure certificate that includes the use of a True Site security seal on your website. This dynamic site seal automatically identifies your site as authentic and validated by a trusted third party.
True Business ID – premium 256-bit secure certificate that includes the use of a True Site security seal on your website. This dynamic assurance site seal includes an embedded company name/date/time stamp, thereby offering the utmost in buyer confidence.
True Business ID with EV – premium 256-bit secure certificate that includes all of the True Business ID features. Additionally, with Extended Validation, the address bar is displayed in green, thereby providing your customers a convenient and extremely visible sign that you have a highly authenticated, trustworthy site and that your customers’ information is secure. The Security Status bar displays the organization name and the name of the Certificate Authority (CA).
The VeriSign line of SSL certificates offers security and compatibility that is equal to GeoTrust. VeriSign has the added benefit of superior brand recognition, as VeriSign is the name most often associated with the highest levels of Internet security. We offer the following two types of VeriSign certificates:
SecureSite – premium 256-bit secure certificate that includes the VeriSign Secured Seal, an international sign of trust displayed on over 90,000 domains.
SecureSite with EV – premium 256-bit secure certificate that includes all of the SecureSite features.
Through our partnership agreements, we are able to offer the aforementioned certificates at a lower cost than if you purchased them directly from GeoTrust or VeriSign. Feel free to read more about them and/or order a certificate through our website at:

* Important renewal note for clients that already have SSL certificates though us… GeoTrust and VeriSign allow us to offer a bonus of up to two months on any SSL certificate renewal. The way it works is that any remaining time on your existing certificate will be added into the new certificate, rounding up to the next full month (e.g. if you have 15 days left on your existing certificate, one extra month will be added to your new certificate). As a result, it is to your benefit to renew early rather than waiting until the expiration date to take advantage of the free “bonus” time that will be added to the SSL certificate order.
If you are considering obtaining an EV SSL certificate, we have devoted a couple of blog posts to this subject:
