The spam protection software that LexiConn offers as an add-on feature has been updated to the latest version. The new version has updated rules to catch the latest spam emails and scams, improved filtering, and more.

If you have not yet implemented the spam protection for your domain, you may easily do so at:

The spam protection system is completely customizable, so that it will not block legitimate email from your customers and email contacts. You can set email addresses that will always get through (whitelist), adjust the threshhold of what is considered spam to only block severe spam, setup blacklists, and more. The software is quite intelligent, tracking who sent you email, where it came from, and whether they sent you spam or legitimate email. This makes it harder for common spammers to get through, while marking your “good” contacts as legitimate, allowing the email to get to you easily.

You can even implement a virus block in the Account Manager, which will block out all attachments that are potentially harmful or may contain a virus. Once an email is detected as spam, you decide what to do with it. The system can tag the subject line, so you can filter it in your local email program, it can be deleted, or you can have it send back a message saying the email was blocked as spam.

Here is a detailed list of the major changes in the spam software:

    - Auto-whitelist is now much harder to spoof, so spams with from=to are caught properly.
    - added meta tests: allows multiple tests etc. to be run in 1 rule
    - false matches in ISO-2022-JP charset now avoided
    - bugs in whitelist_to, all_spam_to and friends fixed
    - rules which were causing too many false-positives removed or fixed:
    DOUBLE_CAPSWORD, UPPERCASE_25_50, PARTIAL_RFC_2369, MSGID_CHARS_SPAM, many others
    - lots of rule fixes, and lots of new rules
