Description: WebUndies.com went online in 1999 as a specialty retailer focusing on licensed novelty boxer shorts with about fifteen designs. Terri from WebUndies.com stated, “Our product offerings have since expanded to over fifteen hundred styles in a broader offering! In addition to men’s underwear we also carry lounge pants, robes and t-shirts for men; underwear, lounge pants and pajamas for children; and underwear, robes and lounge wear for women. From Hello Kitty to Superman, we have the entire family covered!”

“In addition to our online retail business, WebUndies.com offers our merchandise at wholesale pricing to smaller companies around the world. We also provide custom printing services for customers who are running fundraisers or events. It’s not just underwear, it’s fun to wear!”

Technologies Used: WebUndies.com uses ShopSite as its ecommerce application, having moved to that cart in October 2010. Terri continued, “ShopSite has allowed us to update the look and feel of our storefront, as well as integrate better with our back-end office application, ABSolution. It gives us a lot more flexibility to cross-promote products and keep the pages looking fresh for customers.

We use LexiConn for hosting and are very pleased with the expert level support and responsiveness of their team. We use McAfee Secure to help keep our site secure and remain PCI compliant.

We have also set up an email notification system for out of stock items. Customers can sign up on a wait list for an item which is currently out of stock. On the site, entries are stored in a MySQL database. ABSolution monitors the list and inventory levels, and sends an email alert when the item is available or may suggest an alternate product.

Further, each product has up to three recommended items for cross sell on products as part of our “you may also like” feature. This is maintained in ABSolution and integrated with the site via web services. There is also a section for “people who bought this item also bought”. Products in this section are a result of previous sales activity. Information is updated from ABSolution daily without user intervention.

ABSolution integrates order processing with WebUndies.com and other partner sites, e.g. Amazon.com and Shop.com. Inventory feeds are also integrated with multiple shopping websites and an RSS feed is integrated as well.

ABSolution is provided by Applied Business Systems, Inc., in Teterboro, NJ. They can be reached at http://www.absolution.com or via email at sales@absolution.com. Website design and custom templates provided by Designs with Merit.

Advice / Tips: Terri continued “Be consistent! We have over a half dozen feeds that go out every day to partner sites as well as CPC and search advertising sites. Having consistent data and a plan make it hassle free and easy to troubleshoot, should something go wrong.”
