* New web based file manager (Fileman)
* New web based email program (Open Webmail)
* Spam protection upgraded (optional real time blacklists)
* Tips: search engines and cost effective advertising—
New web based file manager (Fileman)In the first step towards a completely redesigned Account Manager, LexiConn has made available a new browser based file manager called FileMan. This new program is an easy to use, extremely powerful file manager and file editor. It is also a major improvement over the old WebShell system.
Features include:
- Create new files using a WYSIWYG html editor (like FrontPage or
DreamWeaver)
- Edit existing files, either in WYSIWYG HTML editor or plain text.
- Upload one or multiple files and handles ascii/binary transfers
- Search for files based on file names, or full text searches
- Multi file search and replace
- Archive management – create, view, extract .tar files as well as
.tar.gz files
- Quickly check whether your perl files compile
- Copy single files, or whole directories recursively
- You can set permissions of groups of files using either numeric
codes (755) or checkboxes for permissions (rwxr-xr-x)FileMan uses an intuitive, well laid out interface that makes managing your website from the web a snap. The built-in editor allows you to insert HTML tags and format a webpage without any real need to know the HTML code behind it.
You may access FileMan from the Account Manager, or directly at:

(where ‘your_domain.com’ represents your actual account domain name)

* New web based email program (Open Webmail)LexiConn is also pleased to announce Open Webmail, a feature packed, web based email system that is available to all clients. Open Webmail will be replacing Anyemail and Neomail as the default email program for checking and sending email via your web browser.
Open Webmail is one of the most configurable and powerful web email programs available today. For a full breakdown of its capabilities please reference the Open Webmail announcement in our News Forum at:

Spam protection upgraded (optional real time blacklists)The spam protection software has been upgraded to the latest version. The new version has updated filter rules, better classification of legitimate newsletters, many bugfixes, and improved performance.
The newest feature added, which brings even more customization to the system, is the ability to turn on or off Realtime blacklists for each POP box. This new feature allows you to have all email checked with various large blacklists on the Internet, which helps to detect the newest spam emails in existence. It works by listing the mail servers and email addresses of known spammers and spam accounts, regardless of whether the emails themselves trip the spam rules correctly. An email with entries in multiple blacklists will probably be tagged as spam.
To enable this feature, go to the “Modify Spam Settings” section in the Account Manager.
These realtime black lists are very effective at stopping spam. One potential drawback is that the possibility exists that a legitimate email could be tagged as spam if it comes from a mailserver where a spammer resides. Because of this, we recommend you only tag the Subject as spam, and filter it locally, just to be sure. If you are not worried about an occasional email being blocked as well, then you may choose any option to deal with email determined to be spam by the software.
The spam protection system only costs $3 per month, and can apply to any of your POP boxes for one account. To order it, you may go to:
http://www.lexiconn.com/secure/additional.htmlLexiConn continually updates the software and rules to be as effective as possible in detecting and stopping spam. Along with spam blocking, the software offers the ability for users to have their own white and black lists, set thresholds, and block many viruses.

Tip: Cost effective online advertising:
Looking for a great way to advertise online that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg? And that brings you quality traffic to your website? Pay per click search engine advertising is a powerful way to market your site to those that are interested in its content. This advertising method works by having companies bid on how much they are willing to pay if someone clicks on their ad in a search engine for a certain keyword. So, you decide how much you are willing to spend, and you only are charged when a qualified visitor clicks on your ad to go to your website. This means your ad may
be seen by thousands of people per month, but you only pay for the small percentage that actively click to your website. To take full advantage of such a system, you need to pick the right keywords that people would use to try and find a product or service that you offer. A great tool for seeing how popular keyword searches are can be found at:

Both allow you to pick your keywords, choose how much to spend per click, and to monitor their success from your web browser. Google is the most popular search engine in the world, and overture places your ad on sites such as Yahoo, Lycos, and MSN. You can start your ad with only a few dollars to test the waters as well.
