    SSL Security in Web Browsers
    ——-
Certain browsers, such as Firefox and Chrome, are changing the way they display the address bar on secure pages, depending on the protocol in use.

SSLv3 is an older protocol used by some sites to connect to a server. Firefox is now removing the padlock from sites where this protocol is on. As such, LexiConn will be removing this protocol from all shared SSL certificates on May 31, 2015. If you are using an older third party software system such as ShopSite’s old v2 Order Transfer Module, or older Stone Edge software, this could stop working if you connect via the shared SSL.

For more information on SSLv3 error messages in Firefox, reference:

    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/what-do-sslv3-error-messages-mean-firefox

In addition to the SSLv3 issue mentioned above, another browser issue is now happening with respect to SHA-1 SSL certificates. SHA-1 is a secure hashing algorithm used by some SSL certificates. It used to be the standard, but is currently being deprecated. Both Chrome and Firefox now remove the padlock on any SSL URL that uses a SHA-1 certificate that expires in 2016 or later.

If your site is using SHA-1 encryption and expires in 2016 or later, the resolution is to have your certificate reissued using SHA-2. Certificate vendors should do this reissue at no charge. If you are not seeing the padlock on your secure pages, then SHA-1 may be the issue. You can check to see if your site is using a SHA-1 certificate on our SSL checker site:
