* From the Blog…When to Move to a Managed, Dedicated Server?
There are a number of reasons why a website owner may need or opt to move their hosting to a Managed, dedicated server. Before we cover this further, we should clarify what we mean when we talk about a “Managed server”. A Managed server is defined as one server that is dedicated to one or more websites for a single client. As such, the server resources would not be shared with other accounts as is the case in a shared hosting environment. With LexiConn, we fully manage the server, meaning that we take care of all of the tasks associated with server administration. This includes:- * Keeping the server software up to date
* Security Auditing
* Pro-active monitoring and actions to keep the server running optimallyEssentially, this allows our Managed server clients to focus on running their websites, instead of worrying about their server.
Here are just a few reasons why one might opt for a Managed server instead of shared hosting…
- * You need a large amount disk space for your site (heavy use of audio, video, digital downloads, etc.)
* You plan on getting a lot of traffic to your site or anticipate a high level of data transfer
* Your site is very cpu intensive, or utilizes a significant amount of MySQL database resources
* You want the added security of being the only site on a serverWe have helped many clients migrate from the shared hosting environment to a Managed server. It’s a seamless process that involves NO downtime. A few of our clients that have grown significantly over the years have migrated from a regular shared hosting account to a multiple dedicated server setup, as their business prospered and their hosting needs became more complex.
If you are interested in our Managed server offerings, but are not sure if it is the best option for your site, please contact us so we can review your existing account and projected needs. Details on our dedicated server offerings can be found at:
