    ShopSite Version 8.2 Released…

    ShopSite, Inc., the makers of the industry leading ShopSite ecommerce software, has released version 8.2 of the product with numerous enhancements. The latest 8.2 version of ShopSite has many new features including improved image management, the ability to create thumbnails and resized graphics automatically, as well as support for Google Sitemaps, Google Analytics, and Froogle.     LexiConn has fully tested the new release and this version is currently in use for many of our clients’ stores. If you are already running version 8.0 or 8.1, or if you lease the software, the upgrade is free of charge. You may request an upgrade at:

    Upgrades are completed within two business days after receiving the upgrade request The process is seamless and requires no re-work by the merchant.

    LexiConn has been partnered with ShopSite, Inc. since 1997 and ShopSite is our sole ecommerce offering. ShopSite is very robust, user friendly, and can support stores looking to sell anywhere from one product to tens of thousands of products. The program can be managed easily through your web browser via a backoffice interface. Unlike many popular ecommerce products that create dynamically generated store pages, ShopSite creates static web pages which are indexed more effectively by search engines.     Google Webmaster Tools…

    Google now offers a free service called Webmaster Tools, which provides you with an easy way to make your site more Google-friendly. The tools will show you many things regarding Google and your website, including:

    Crawl Information: This will show you if Google has access to your site, and also when Googlebot last visited. You can also view URLs that Google had trouble crawling and why the problem exists.
    Robots.txt File Validation: This will show you if Google is having trouble with your robots.txt file, and allow you to test out changes to that file before you change it on the server.
    Website Content: View top content from your site and see the words that other sites use to link to it.
    Top queries: Find the top queries that drive traffic to your site and where your site is included in the search results of these queries.
    Indexing information: See how your site is indexed and which of your pages are included in the index.
    Submit a Sitemap File: This allows you to tell Google about all of your pages, including which pages are most important to you and how often those pages change.
    Specify your Preferred Domain: This allows you to tell Google which URL to use when indexing your site.

    As mentioned in the first section of the newsletter, the new version of ShopSite has several Google enhancements. The webmaster tools described above can be used on any website, and are not restricted to ecommerce sites, ShopSite or otherwise. It is also important to note that submitting a Google sitemap can alter your rankings, so if you are already indexed well in Google, you may not want to add one.

    Featured Client – e-weddingbands.com…

    This month’s featured client is e-weddingbands.com. E-weddingbands.com sells gold, platinum, palladium, titanium, tungsten and diamond wedding bands at very low prices. Their team includes a very large goldsmithing shop as well as a customer service center. The business was built based on customer service and price.

    Individual POP Box Management…

    Individual users can login to the LexiConn Account Manager with their POP box username and password. They will only have access their own specific settings, as opposed to settings that affect the entire account, which only the main user can control. This is an ideal way for users to change their passwords, set up autoresponders, and control their own spam settings (if subscribed to this service). The Account Manager can be reached at:
