    EV Secure Certificate Promotion

LexiConn is pleased to announce that our SSL certificate vendor is currently offering a special on GeoTrust EV secure certificate orders. We have passed these savings on to you, thereby offering our lowest prices ever on this product (over 40% off). Read below for complete details.

As you may recall from prior postings, Extended Validation (EV) secure certificates are a great way to maximize security and boost online sales potential. This type of certificate enables up to 256-bit encryption on both web browsers and mobile phones. With an EV SSL certificate, your shoppers will see the address bar turn green when they visit secure pages on your site. This highly visible sign proves to your customers that you have a trustworthy site and that their information is secure.

In addition to turning the address bar green, the security status bar will display the organization name as well as the name of the Certificate Authority (CA). Further, all EV certificates include a dynamic site seal with your company name and a date/time stamp. You will notice that most prominent online retailers have already adopted this form of certificate.

We have a few recent blog posts that go into more detail on EV certificates:

If you are interested in having this type of certificate on your site, we are offering GeoTrust True Business with EV certificates at a special rate of:

$399 for one year (normally $699) (save $300!)
$718 for two years (normally $1,258) (save $540!)

This special offer is good now through August 31, 2010.

Complete details and ordering instructions for all of our certificate offerings can be found on our website:

    Having Multiple Domain Names

Many people own multiple domain names for a variety of reasons. One popular reason is to register common extensions (e.g. .com, .net, and .org) of your domain name in order to prevent your competition from owning them. If you do register multiple variations of your domain name, you then have a couple of choices regarding what you wish to do with them.

You could choose to not have them resolve anywhere, meaning that your sole purpose of owning them is to prevent others from doing so. Another more popular choice is to “park” these additional domain names to your main website. With this method, people can reach your site regardless of which domain variation they typed in.

Once a domain is parked, search engines such as Google now have the potential of indexing your pages under any of the domains now resolving to the account. In order not to “dilute” your rankings across domains, you could opt to have a permanent rewrite in place such that everything gets re-written and hence indexed under a single domain.

This is typically done via an entry in your .htaccess file. We have detailed instructions in our knowledgebase on how to do this at:
    http://support.lexiconn.com/kb/questions/221/

Next month we’ll expound on this topic, covering some additional options available to you when you own multiple domain names.

If you are interested in registering additional domain names through our registry, we offer .com, .net, .org, .biz, .info, and .us registrations:
