WordPress is the most popular open source blog software on the internet. It can be installed easily via our Account Manager under the Applications tab.Tips / Tricks
To help you get started with WordPress, we include several popular and useful plugins with any installation performed via our point and click installer. These plugins provide functionality to stop comment spam, integrate with Google Analytics, perform SEO optimization, increase site speed, and more. Complete details on all pre-installed plugins can be found in our knowledgebase:

Aside from effective use of plugins, you’ll want to be sure to only enable features that are needed. For example, if you aren’t allowing comments or registration on your blog, then it’s best to just disable these features entirely.
Security
When maintaining a blog, the most important thing to remember with respect to security is to keep the software updated. Recent versions will have a feature where the core software updates automatically, but older versions would need to be updated manually. Often times the home screen of the dashboard will inform you of a newer version available, and these messages should never be ignored.
Regardless of the core version, plugins should be checked regularly, as these are not auto-updated. Older versions are often exploited by hackers. Typically, these older versions have vulnerabilities that can be used to send spam and malware and also infect your site. Any plugins or themes not in use should be removed entirely, so there are less chances for compromise, and less items for you to keep updated. More details about general WordPress topics and functions can be found in our knowledgebase entry below:
