DNS Redundancy

Your domain record needs at least two DNS servers for the purpose of redundancy. This is in place so that if one server goes down, the other one can still serve the proper information. LexiConn recommends that clients have all three of our nameservers on their domain record(s) for DNS redundancy. By default, your domain may only be set to our two primary nameservers (ns.serverhost.net and ns2.serverhost.net), but the tertiary nameserver (ns3.serverhost.net) should be added to all domains that are active on our system. You can check to see which nameservers your domain is set to by doing a WHOIS lookup at our domains site:

http://domains.lexiconn.com/whois.cgi

The third nameserver is in a separate datacenter than our two primaries, thereby increasing our reliability and redundancy with respect to domain name resolution.

If you wish to add this third nameserver to your domain, you may do so through the registrar with which the domain is registered. Note that you are not required to do this and choosing not do so will not cause any problems for your site. If you have any questions about this, or need any help adding this nameserver to your domain(s), please let us know.

Domain Transfer Special
