* From the Blog…Google Analytics
As many of you are already aware, Google Analytics ( http://www.google.com/analytics/ ) is a tool that keeps track of all of the traffic for your website. It can tell you all about your site’s visitors, including how many people visit your site, how many pages they view, how long they stay on the site, etc. This article will focus on some additional things that you can do with Google Analytics.In order to record data, Google Analytics requires that you add tracking code to your site. If you are using the ShopSite( http://www.lexiconn.com/ecommerce/shopsite/index.html ) software to create your site, you can easily add the required tracking code to your site under Merchandising -> Google -> Analytics. We recommend using the asynchronous version of the code, which won’t affect your page load speeds at all. If you are not using ShopSite to build your pages and need to manually place the tracking code, reference this article:

If you use Google AdWords, you should link your Analytics account to your Adwords account in order to help analyze where people go on your site once they click on your ads. This information can help you improve your ads and your site which would ultimately lead to more money per click. This article explains how to link the two accounts:

Within Analytics you have many options for what items to track and what reports to configure. Not all reports will be useful to everyone, depending on their reporting needs. Since you have the option for which reports to use/configure, we feel that the following two articles will help you in deciding what reports should be looked at, and which custom ones you should consider configuring:

http://searchenginewatch.com/article/2097048/My-Top-5-Most-Used-Custom-Reports-in-Google-AnalyticsAdvanced reporting is also available for things such as campaign tracking, traffic segmentation, social media, etc. Simple filters can be set up that exclude things like your local IP (and/or your office IP) such that your visits to your own site do not count toward traffic metrics. Advanced filters and segments let you create your own reports geared toward specific sources or goals. This article explains many of these advanced items in more detail:
