    New datacenter move completed

LexiConn has completed the move to the new datacenter. We want to thank you for your patience and understanding while we upgraded our infrastructure. There were a few minor bumps along the way, but overall, it was a resounding success! Now that the dust has begun to settle, this transition will result in increased reliability as well as providing ample space for future growth.

Send HTML emails to your Majordomo mailing list…

LexiConn is pleased to announce that the Majordomo mailing list system has been enhanced to allow the sending of HTML emails to a moderated list. This new feature can be used by logging into the Account Manager system, going to the Majordomo section, and selecting the “Post to moderated list” option.

This new feature will allow you to use the web based system to send out either a plain text email, an HTML email, or a combination of plain text and HTML. The combination method works well because the recipient’s email program can decide which version to display. One other benefit to this new system is that it displays a preview page, which will let you view how your newsletter will look before you proceed to send it to your subscriber base. This gives you the opportunity to go back and easily make changes before actually sending out your email.

To take advantage of these new features, you must post to your moderated list from the Account Manager. It will not work if you post by sending an “Approved” email to your majordomo list.

    phpMyAdmin upgraded…

phpMyAdmin has been upgraded to the latest version (2.3.0). This new version includes bug fixes, full database search functionality, highlighting of rows while browsing, and more…

You can now manage your MySQL database by going to a direct URL off of your domain name instead of logging into the Account Manager as well. For example, if your website is your_domain.com, you could go to:
    http://www.your_domain.com/cpanel/cp2.0/php/

phpMyAdmin is a web based manager for a MySQL database. It allows you to easily manage and work with your MySQL database.

    Tips and Tricks…

Here are two quick tips related to email:

Tip 1: If you are on the road or not at your personal computer, you can still easily check your email from any web browser. LexiConn offers two web based email programs that makes it a snap to check your mail from your hosting account (assuming you do not forward the email to another address off of our servers). For example, if your website is your_domain.com, you could go to:

    Neomail:
    http://www.your_domain.com/neomail/

    or Anyemail:
    http://www.your_domain.com/anyemail/

Both programs allow you to view your email, as well as send out messages. If you do not delete any of the emails that you want via the web based interface, they will still be available in your email box when you return to your personal computer to download your email.

Tip 2: Dealing with viruses and spam – It is important that you have your virus software always on and the software is continually kept up to date. This will give you the most protection from these harmful email viruses. As far as spam goes, you can easily setup Mail Filters in your email program to sort spam and legitimate email to different folders:

LexiConn also offers a low cost ($3/month) spam and virus solution that can be used on any server side POP boxes to filter out a majority of viruses and offer you complete control over how you deal with spam. For more information, please visit:

As the summer winds down, LexiConn is gearing up for more features and upgrades. Look for improved web statistics, a more powerful Account Manager, additional ecommerce options, and more in the coming months. If you have any ideas or feedback, please feel free to contact us. :)

    Sincerely,
    - The LexiConn Team
