* From the Blog…Email Issues
Lately we are seeing more support requests from customers having trouble sending email from their email client (webmail remains unaffected). The usual culprit is the outgoing port in their email program. By default the port is set to 25, but many ISPs, including Comcast, have recently started blocking port 25.ISPs typically block this default port in an effort to combat spam, whereby they only allow you to connect to this port if you are sending through their system. In order to get around this block, we opened port 26, which will allow you to send through your account with us without tripping any ISP blocks.
This knowledgebase article explains how to change the port in Outlook or Outlook Express:

If you are using a different email program, the setting is likely on an advanced screen or your SMTP settings page.
Another issue that has come up often lately is compromised email POP box passwords. No matter how secure a password is made to be, it can be compromised if malware exists on the local PC that connects to the box. The malware can retrieve stored passwords, or log keystrokes to obtain it. We recommend running an anti malware program in addition to keeping up to date with antivirus software. An excellent malware scanner that we use ourselves is:
In addition to running antivirus and a malware scanning program, you should also be sure to keep java and flash updated on your computer as these are two other points of compromise. For more complete details on the subject, including flash/java update instructions, reference our blog post at:

WordPress Update
Aside from the POP box compromise referenced in the previous section, another type of compromise on the rise lately has to do with the WordPress blog software. There has been a recent massive attack on WordPress blogs around the globe whereby hackers are looking for vulnerable older versions and/or easy to guess admin passwords to the WordPress dashboard.If you are running WordPress in your account, it’s very important that you keep the software up to date in order to avoid potential security problems with your site. Hackers have been able to send out spam and upload malicious files to accounts running older versions. The latest version of the software is 3.5.1, and most older versions will provide you with an upgrade link on the top of your admin dashboard. If you aren’t sure if you’re running the latest version, or if you need help upgrading, send us an email and we’ll assist accordingly.
