Description: Moore Brothers Music has had a physical store since 2004, and has been selling online since 2008. Scott from Moore Brothers Music states, “We sell musical instruments and accessories online and at our store. We also teach 400+ private music lessons each week as well as rent nearly 500 instruments each year to the local school bands and orchestras. Our online business started by listing a few books on Amazon and it quickly grew from there. We now sell on our website, Amazon, eBay, and Reverb.com.”
Technologies Used: Scott continued, “We’re very happy to use Magento since we can always find an extension to make it do what we want. We sync our local and FBA inventory and process orders with Teapplix. Inventory synchronization is extremely important to us across all platforms especially when using Amazon FBA. Our POS system in the store is Microbiz. Email marketing is done with MailChimp for online customers and Constant Contact for students. We use Norton Shopping guarantee and instantsearch+ on our Magento site. We’re currently implementing Mageworx SEO Ultimate and are shopping for a great blog extension.”
Advice / Tips: Scott finished, “We love using Amazon FBA but there are challenges including the synchronization of inventory on other marketplaces as well as the fact that you must collect sales tax in fifteen states. Be sure to do this or you will owe back taxes! Secondly, never, ever use manufacturers’ descriptions for products. We’re currently cleaning up hundreds of product descriptions now.”
