Website: http://www.breadtopia.com/
Description: Breadtopia is focused on helping people learn how to easily make artisan quality bread at home. “Our store offers the necessary and desired baking supplies and tools to facilitate that end,” states Eric of Breadtopia.
Technologies Used: He continued, “Our site is a WordPress blog that hosts free video tutorials and, as blogs are good at doing, provides the interactivity visitors enjoy for making comments, asking questions and getting answers from myself and (mostly) other visitors.
Wordpress and many of its countless plugins give our site some of the social networking capabilities we want. The WordPress theme we use is called Thesis and is the best thing since sliced bread (sorry) for its ease of use and flexibility in allowing for nifty design customization. We currently use Webvideozone.com for our video player. And of course, ShopSite for the shopping cart and many of the great modules that ShopSite and LexiConn provide.”
Advice / Tips: “Make sure your site is as attractive and professional looking as you can get it. If I wasn’t married to a graphic designer, I’d hire one. And here’s a big tip that I wish I had implemented earlier – have at least one usability expert look at your site to see how to make it more user friendly, reduce cart abandonment, optimize for conversions, or whatever you’re trying to accomplish. Even if you think you know it all, fresh, knowledgeable and experienced eyes will see things in your site that could use improvement that you either missed or weren’t aware of. I used fairfieldprofessionals.com and owe them more than a loaf of bread for their help. If you use ShopSite for your cart, don’t even think about not using LexiConn to host it. They rock to beat the band!”
