Prepare Your Store for the Holidays
    —–
For most online industries, the upcoming holiday season brings additional order volume opportunities. It is important that your store is ready to handle the rush.

How to be Prepared for the Holiday Season

With the holidays almost upon us, it’s easy to get caught up in the frenzy that inevitably ensues, but it’s very important to be sure that your online store is ready. We recommend planning ahead and making sure that everything is in order now. This blog post covers seven main areas that you should take a look at:

We offer a variety of tools for some of the issues touched upon in the blog post listed above, including:

http://www.whynopadlock.com/ – helps you easily spot insecure items on secure pages:
http://www.htaccesscheck.com/ – validates your .htaccess file for syntax errors
http://www.shippingapimonitor.com/ – tracks shipping API outages at FedEx, UPS, and USPS

Aside from using the aforementioned tools, another important thing to consider is whether or not your site has a responsive design. This just refers to having web pages that scale according to the size of the device that is viewing them. This is becoming increasingly important as the number of mobile phone/tablet shoppers continues to rise. You can achieve this in version 12 of ShopSite by using their newer themes that are coded as such, or you can adjust your current design in any version to be responsive. This blog post covers the topic in more detail:

Another thing not to be overlooked is the speed of your website. A fast loading site will help improve your search engine ranking as well as keep your customers happy so that they won’t abandon your site and shop somewhere else. The blog posts linked in the Holiday Preparation article expound on this in more detail, and we also have a CDN service that you can leverage to improve your site’s loading time. More information about that offering can be found on our website at:
