    Social Media

Social media is a powerful marketing and communication tool that you should employ on your website. This includes having a blog and using services such as Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and Google+.

If you would like to have a blog on your website, we offer a point and click installation of WordPress in the Account Manager under Applications – Miscellaneous – WordPress. Once installed, be sure to keep your blog up to date so that you are protected against potential security vulnerabilities and are able to take advantage of the latest features.

Aside from keeping the software itself up to date, it’s important that you update your blog regularly with relevant content. This will help with both search engine optimization and readership. Here is an entry from our own blog archive detailing reasons for having a blog as well as what to blog about:

Having a Twitter account, a Facebook page, and/or a YouTube channel are becoming a must these days for any website. Each of these services has an instantly recognizable button which you should display prominently on your website. Once someone follows you or subscribes to your channel, you can now communicate with them long after they have left your site. This article explains in detail how you should integrate these services with your site:

Another social networking service that you should look into is Google Plus (sometimes written as Google+ or G+). This relatively new service was launched on June 28, 2011 and is now open to everyone with a Google account (as of September 20, 2011). This includes business pages so given the popularity of the service, it is definitely something you should look into adding to your site if you haven’t already. Here is a good overview of the service:
