    ShopSite 7 released!… (v7.0.3)

Shopsite v7, initially released in late December, is available for any Shopsite client that wishes to upgrade their store software. All initial issues with the new version have been addressed and the latest 7.0.3 version is very stable and already in use by over 50 ShopSite stores hosted with LexiConn.

ShopSite Version 7 has many new and exciting features that make this upgrade a “must have” for any merchant looking to offer the best options to their customers. Some of the new features include: customer registration, fully templatable cart and checkout pages, mini-cart on catalog pages, free shipping options, multiple page generation, confirmation pages, and more. Full details on the ShopSite upgrade can be found at:

    http://www.lexiconn.com/shopsite7.html

The link above contains full pricing information, a link to the new features, and the signup form to request an upgrade.

The v7 upgrade is free of charge to anyone who currently leases the ShopSite software, or for anyone that purchased their ShopSite license after November 1, 2003. For all other users, the cost to upgrade from any older version to version 7 is a one time upgrade fee of $125 for a Manager store, or $325 for a Pro store.

If you are not sure whether you own your license or lease the software, please feel free to contact us at support@lexiconn.com and we can provide assistance.

IMPORTANT: If you currently are running a very old version of Shopsite (3.x, 4.x or 5.x) and are considering or plan to upgrade to version 7, you will want to do so before the end of March as Shopsite is increasing the upgrade fees for those older versions to $165.00 for Manager and $425.00 for Pro. The upgrade fee for v6 to v7 would remain unchanged at $125.00 (Mgr) and $325.00 (Pro).

We are also offering a special upgrade price for anyone that owns their Shopsite license and is looking to upgrade their Shopsite Manager store to the latest v7 version of Shopsite Pro. The cost for this upgrade is a one time fee of $800.00, and includes the upgrade fee for going to the new version as well (a $325.00 savings).

If you have already upgraded, or want some tips and tricks on the new version, please reference our ShopSite 7 upgrade FAQ at:
    http://www.lexiconn.com/shopsite7faq.html

Upgrades are seamless, and do not cause any downtime for your store. Upgrade requests are completed within two business days of receiving the order.

New virus scanning with improved spam protection…

LexiConn is pleased to announce that full virus scanning protection is now being offered in conjunction with spam protection. With this new feature, all emails can be actively scanned for the presence of a virus before being delivered to a local POP mailbox. The antivirus software is updated daily for the latest virus definitions.

The cost for both the spam and virus protection is $5 per month. If you currently have spam protection enabled, and wish to add the active virus scanning (for $5 per month instead of your current $3 per month) please send an email to sales@lexiconn.com and we can upgrade your account to include active virus scanning.

(You do not have to upgrade if you wish to continue using the spam protection and simple attachment filtering, without the active virus scanning.)

With the latest viruses such as MyDoom quickly spreading, and often bypassing simple filters by sending itself as a .zip attachment, active virus scanning will help to block these viruses and worms.

Along with the new virus protection, we have upgraded our spam protection software, and are now updating rules and filters weekly to keep up with the latest spam techniques.

If you do not have spam protection currently and you are are interested in adding spam and virus protection to your account ($5 per month, which covers all POP boxes for your account), you may fill out the order form at:

    Tip: Validate your web pages:

Ever wonder if the web page you just designed is compliant with the HTML standards for all web browsers? Will search engines such as Google and Yahoo be able to effectively crawl and index your site? These questions can be answered by running your web pages through an HTML Validator. An HTML validator simply checks your HTML source code for any syntax errors, or improperly used HTML tags. This can be important to insure your website is viewable correctly by the various web browsers in use
today, and that there are not any significant problems that could cause a search engine not to index your web pages.

Two sites that offer this service for free are:

    WDG HTML Validator

    W3C MarkUp Validation Service
