    In this month’s issue:
    * Urchin stats upgraded
    * PHP upgrades to 4.3.2
    * New Discus board install
    * Tips: Creating password protected directories

    Urchin stats upgraded…

    We have recently upgraded the Urchin stats program to the latest version. This new version is mainly a bugfix release for some minor issues with stat accuracy:
    - Fixed errant entry in Top Entrances report
    - Improved Urchin’s ability to deal with abnormally long log entries
    - Corrected inability to recognize Safari browser

    If you do not currently have Urchin stats as an add-on feature for your account, they can be added for only $5 per month. Click on the link below to see a sample of what Urchin can report for your site statistics:

    PHP upgrades to 4.3.2…

    LexiConn is currently upgrading all PHP versions to the latest 4.3.2 release. This latest release contains many new features, bugfixes, and a faster processing system. The new version should be backwards compatible with all older versions, so it should not cause any older php scripts to have any problems. Major new features include streams support and an improved GD library (GD 2.0). A full description of changes can be found at:
    http://www.php.net/release_4_3_2.php

    PHP is one of the most widely used scripting languages on the Internet today. Its code can be embedded into HTML pages easily (similar to ASP scripts), allowing dynamic webpages, database integration, and more. A simple tutorial can be found at:

    New Discus board install…

    LexiConn has completed the auto installation script for the latest Discus 4 discussion board / forum software system. You can now install a Discus 4 discussion board from the Account Manager under “Applications”. Discus is a powerful piece of software for running an online forum. Discus offers a Pro version that can be purchased that has many advanced features. You can read more about what it can do at:
    http://www.discusware.com/discus/index.php

    LexiConn also offers phpBB 2, a MySQL/PHP based online forum.

    Tips: Creating password protected directories

    Do you have private content that you would like to restrict to a small group of people online? Do you have a members section with value added information? If so, you can easily setup a password protected directory/folder to restrict access to only individuals with the right username and password. This task can be easily accomplished in the new Account Manager.

    Once logged into the Account Manager, go to:
    Site Tools -> Passwd Protect

    >From here you can password protect a directory, add/edit/delete users, and remove password protection. Once a directory is password protected, when someone tries to access any file in that directory a popup password box appears prompting them to enter the username and password.

    Need a more advanced password protection management system? A great site that has tons of scripts you can install in your hosting account is:
