    A new virus / worm is being sent via email that is causing much confusion to those that receive it. The virus is called MiMail, and is often sent from an address at your domain such as admin@your_domain.com.

    The subject is often “your account [random number]” and the text of the message contains words to the effect:

    Hello there,
    I would like to inform you about important information regarding your email address. This email address will be expiring. Please read attachment for details.

    Best regards,
    Administrator

    The email then contains a file called message.zip that contains the virus. If you receive this email, you should delete it without opening the attachment. LexiConn has setup its mailservers to block this virus from arriving to any hosting account’s email box. These types of viruses did bypass the spam protection virus filter that LexiConn offers as the attachment file type is a zip file.

    You should also make sure your computer’s virus protection software is up to date, and that you have done a full scan of your computer recently. More information on this virus can be found at:
