LexiConn has added a Virus pre-filter to the spam protection system that can delete an attachment that can be executed in Windows before it even reaches your POP box. This “pre-filter” is not a replacement for virus scanning software running on your local PC, but is rather a tool that can be used to eliminate any emails with attachments that can be dangerous if run (such as file types ending in .exe, .bat, .pif, etc…) The majority of these types of attachments are viruses.
This option can be enabled in the control panel under the “Settings” section of spam protection. It will delete any email that has a dangerous attachment in it. Attachments such as pictures (.jpg, .gif) or zip files or Word documents will not be affected by this filter. This pre-filter tool will not catch all viruses, but will stop a majority from even reaching your system, thereby cleaning up your inbox.
